Description
Dieter Schnebel’s Re-Visionen is a two-part cycle written in acknowledgement of ten different composers. In this cycle, Schnebel has reworked well-known works which sound very different in their new orchestration and duration. Re-Visionen is based on the principle of extracting yet undiscovered potential in these works.
Schnebel’s Beethoven-Symphonie utilises the first movement of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5 but is scored for chamber ensemble and percussion. Schnebel highlights the clear harmonies and melodies developing out of the omnipresent fate motif of the symphony through leaner instrumentation and the accentuation of individual passages.
