About Bill Readdy

Bill was born in London in 1953. His parents were both musicians, playing both jazz and classical piano. Bill started learning the piano at the age of six, and started singing in the church choir at the age of eight. After hearing an Art Tatum record Bill became extremely interested in jazz piano, and started composing and improvising at quite an early age.

After several years of singing, running church choirs, playing the organ for churches and playing in jazz/pop/rock bands, Bill found a new career in the performing arts world as a pianist, which opened up a whole new area of musicianship, including accompanying most dance forms, composing (including a jazz ballet suite), arranging, accompanying vocalists for rehearsals, recordings, performances and shows.

Bill has also enjoyed several years of working with computer music, including arranging/recording backing tracks, producing scores and as a useful aid when composing and teaching.

Bill’s love of jazz propelled him to compose five jazz books which have been published by Schott & Co Ltd. He has also composed the music for a new tap dancing examination with a major international dance society.
