Christian Jost – A Guide to the Stage Works

"Imagination never fails", says Christian Jost about his composing. This motto applies to his entire operatic oeuvre. The composer imagines worlds whose stories take place in German highrise buildings, in ancient Chinese cities or in 15th century Flanders. Suggestive music always forms the basis of his imaginings. His works never only cover superficial realism, but are full of miracles and surreal events.

Jost's stage works have been commissioned by renowned houses such as the Komische Oper Berlin, the Zurche Opera, and the Vlaamse Opera in Antwerp, and regularly re-enacted.
