Sancta Mater, the fifth movement of Arnesen’s Stabat Mater, serves not only to comfort Mother Mary but all parents who have lost their own child. To quote the composer, “we cry and we pray with them”.

The largely homophonic setting sensitively portrays the text and underlying themes through Arnesen’s trademark luscious harmonies and expert voice interaction.
