About Sue Furlong

Sue Furlong was born in Waterford in 1962 and has been living and working in Wexford since 1987. She is one of south-east Ireland’s most respected and accomplished musicians. Her compositions include “A New King for Israel”, a memorable setting of the Christmas story, and “The Dancing Master”, commissioned by County Wexford Children’s Choir to commemorate the bicentennial 1798 celebrations in County Wexford, as well as the RTE-award-winning “Mass of Thanksgiving”. Wexford Sinfonia recently commissioned Sue to write a piece for orchestra, “Transitions”, to celebrate their 10th anniversary.
A teacher of instrumental and vocal music, Sue has worked for many years with children. She is Musical Performance Director of Wexford Festival Singers who perform annually at Wexford Opera Festival. Some of her recent songs are published by Boosey & Hawkes. Some of her religious pieces are published by GIA.
