Up In Flames
Product Details
Description
My work for soprano and orchestra "Up in flames" is conceived as a song cycle based on the poetry of Lina Kostenko.
Five poems that have fascinated and deeply touched me for a long time.
Five poems that breathe music.
Five poems that I perceive as pure energy.
Five stories that musically tell of every colour and facet of love....
- about the lost soul and voices from beyond....
- about despair, blood and terror....
- but above all of a declaration of love to the Ukraine....
I interpret the concept of flames in my music in a comprehensive way - as flames of love, flames of life, flames of war.... The versatile structure of flames suggests in my imagination a form of irrepressible energy, a structure inspired by the cosmos of music, a kind of living creature that loves, breathes, cries, screams, sings, fights, falls apart, grows, evolves and is constantly in metamorphosis, either in the vacuum of silence or in the clutches of noise.
