Changing woman

In my work I try to enter into a dialogue with the culture of the Navajos and express in sound the power of their ‘medicine’, which ensures balance between the individual and the community through the path of beauty. Through the image of a changing woman, the architype of eternal recurrence, I explore the mystical path of the Navajos and their four holy mountains. The pulse of the drum runs through the score, which is arranged like an imaginary ritual, but without imitating the real ceremony of the Navajos. Arias sung in English and French recitatives are connected and tell the same story on two different levels. Thierry Pécou
