Besichtigung, Versteigerung und Beseitigung von fünf Künstlern

The title of this experimental piece of music theatre devoted to conceptual art is intended to be taken literally: in three consecutive actions “viewing”, “auctioning” and “disposal”, the participating protagonists and musicians are first displayed to the public for viewing, then auctioned off by the auctioneer and finally packaged and transported off the stage.
The musical material employed by Ingomar Grünauer for this action consists of ten different complexes; each artist receives a double page with eight individual motifs originating from the collection of material which can be realized in a variety of ways. Before performance, the ensemble organises how and when this material is to be utilised, but it can also be quasi improvised to a certain extent during the progress of the piece, although the skeleton structure should be determined by the ensemble prior to performance. The auctioneer controls the processes through small lights on the music stands of the performers which are switched off to indicate that the individual should end his or her performance.
