Mit den hier vorgelegten Werken erweist sich der Liegnitzer Organist und Kantor Wilhelm Rudnick, Schüler von Kullak, Dorn, Haupt und Dienel, als typischer Vertreter der Orgelromantik. Die Gattungen Fantasie und Trio waren in dieser Zeit womöglich noch beliebter als im Barock. Während Rudnicks Orgelsonaten oft allzu vordergründig-effektvolle Partien enthalten, zeichnen sich Stücke wie die "Concertfantasie" g-moll op. 56 und die "Acht Orgeltrios" op. 23 durch kompositionstechnische Gediegenheit und nicht alltägliche Einfälle aus.
