Andrei Simion was born in Rumania in 1984 and began his musical career as a cellist in Bucharest. At the age of 16, he moved to London and studied there at the Yehudi Menuhin School and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. He later continued his studies in the masters program at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen with Christoph Richter. Simion has also participated in master classes given by Gary Hoffman, Timothy Eddy, Tim Hugh, Frans Helmerson, Charles Medlam, Johannes Goritzki, and Sir Peter Maxwell Davies.

Simion has received scholarships and won numerous national and international competitions, particularly the English Chamber Orchestra’s Duchess of Cornwall Award; he was also honored at the Beethoven Piano Society of Europe Competition. He has held apprenticeships with the London Sinfonietta, the London Phil harmonic Orchestra, and the Mahler Chamber Orchestra, and has performed for Rumanian radio and television. Simion has also premiered many pieces by young composers. Since 2014, he has been a member of the ensemble CRUSH and the Dortmund Philharmonic Orchestra.
