Adele Bitter
À propos de Adele Bitter
Born in Berlin, Adele Bitter studied as a child in Frankfurt am Main with Gerhard Mantel and later continued her studies at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler in Berlin with Josef Schwab. Supplementary studies in, among other places, Cincinnati with Lee Fiser (LaSalle Quartet) expanded her formation. She played in Ensemble Modern at festivals in Lucerne and Edinburgh, was a member of the orchestral academy of the Staatsoper Unter den Linden and the Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester, from 1999 to 2001 was first solo cellist in the Badische Staatskapelle Karlsruhe and has since then been leader of the cello section in the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin. Alongside concert appearances with orchestras, Adele Bitter regularly gives chamber recitals with piano and plays in the Adamello-Quartett, which often dedicates itself to combining classics of the quartet literature with contemporary compositions for string quartet (Dutilleux, Glanert, Nono, Reimann, Scelsi, Andre, etc.). In addition, she completed a special course in baroque cello at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis with Christophe Coin and has racked up valuable experience playing both continuo and solo parts in collaboration with Jos van Immerseel, the flutist Gergely Bodoky and the soprano Yeree Suh, among others. Her interest in contemporary music and her engagement with the works of persecuted, ostracised and exiled composers culminated in a recording of the complete works for cello solo and cello with piano by Isang Yun in 2017 (with Holger Groschopp). In 2022 she issued a recording with solo pieces for cello by various 20th century composers (EDA 47) and the complete works for cello by Simon Laks (Cybele SACD 362203).
