Music with Mozart

In the 1920s, Philipp Jarnach belonged to the circle around Ferruccio Busoni who aspired to renewing the music by means of his concept of ‚Junge Klassizität‘ (Young Classicality). Musik mit Mozart is extremely well suited for rediscovering this important composer who is hardly present in today‘s concert life. The variations on Piano Trio KV 542 in E major and on String Quintet KV 593 in D major by Mozart are divided in four movements which correspond to the structure of a symphony: The introduction of the themes in the first movement is followed by a minuetto, a siciliano and a tremendously fast final rondo. The splendid orchestration
and the opulent late-Romantic tonal language, however, do not lose sight of the original work by Mozart; the ground of tonality is never left.
