Description

The composer Johanna Senfter (1879-1961) from Oppenheim studied composition with Max Reger in Leipzig. Her expressive style is characterised by polyphonic settings and late-Romantic harmony. Sonate für Violoncello und Klavier Opus 79 was written by Johanna Senfter around 1935. But it was not before 1993 that the long forgotten cello sonata was released on CD for the first time. The current edition of the previously unpublished sonata, now presented by us, is based on the autograph kept at the library of the Cologne Hochschule für Musik. A rewarding concert piece for advanced cellists.
