While Philip Sparke was working on these three books of etudes, he consulted with many music teachers on how best to teach new notes to young wind players while creating a framework in which new musical elements can be introduced in a logical sequence. Starter Studies for beginners and Skilful Studies as well as Super Studies for more advanced players contain motivating exercises that help pupils to expand their range in a structured way and acquire technical skills such as embouchure variations or fingerings. The etudes are tailored precisely to the technical and musical requirements of the individual instruments. This provides interested pupils with optimal practice material from an early learning stage so that they can quickly mature into good musicians. The three books can be used as a supplement to any instrumental school.
