Description
This May, the prestigious Tampere Piano Competition in Finland will once again bring together outstanding pianists from around the world — and one remarkable work is on the program: Vítězslava Kaprálová’s Piano Concerto in D Minor.
Now, thanks to the initiative of Professor Ilmo Ranta (Sibelius Academy), a two-piano edition is being published, offering soloists the opportunity to explore this virtuosic concerto in a new way. The arrangement has been expertly crafted by Karalyn Schubring, a pianist and composer who has deeply engaged with Kaprálová’s music. Her goal: to make this extraordinary composer’s work more accessible to pianists everywhere.
With its lush orchestration, bold harmonic language, and captivating energy, Kaprálová’s concerto is a thrilling experience for both performers and audiences. This new edition opens exciting possibilities — whether for competitions, concerts, or study.
