About WDR Rundfunkchor Koeln

The WDR Rundfunkchor Köln was founded in 1948. Since 2004 its principal conductor is Ruper Huber, and its chorus master Jörg Ritter. It has performed as a large chorus together with orchestra but also as a vocal ensemble composed of soloists. The repertoire covers the entire Western music tradition from medieval music to contemporary compositions, including more than a hundred world and national premières, including Arnold Schönberg, "Die Jakobsleiter"; Hans Werner Henze, "Laudes"; Karlheinz Stockhausen, "Momente"; Luigi Nono, "Il canto sospeso"; Luciano Berio, "Coro"; and Krzysztof Penderecki, "Saint Luke Passion".
