Paul Spicer
 

Paul Spicer is a leading exponent of the British twentieth-century repertoire and has given hundreds of workshops on the subject all over the UK, New Zealand, Canada, America, and on the continent of Europe.

Paul began his musical training as a chorister at New College, Oxford, later studying with Herbert Howells and Richard Popplewell at the Royal College of Music, and is best known for his work as a choral conductor. He has conducted Bach Choirs in Chester and Leicester, and in 1992 took over the conductorship of the Birmingham Bach Choir.

He is also founder and conductor of the Finzi Singers, a professional chamber choir of eighteen singers, which has achieved an international reputation principally through its many recordings for the Chandos label. Paul is Professor of Choral Conducting at the Royal College of Music (RCM) and conductor of the chamber choirs of the Birmingham Conservatoire and the RCM.

Paul Spicer
is best-known as a choral conductor and is in great demand as a conductor of choral workshops for the BBC. He was elected to a Fellowship of the Royal Society of Arts in 1999 and in the following year became an Honorary Research Fellow of Birmingham University and was appointed by the Bishop of Lichfield to the new Cathedral Council. In 2001 he was awarded an Honorary Fellowship of the Birmingham Conservatoire.
