Paul Spicer

Paul Spicer is a leading exponent of the British twentieth-century repertoire and has given hundreds of workshops on the subject all over the UK, New Zealand, Canada, America, and on the continent of Europe.
Paul began his musical training as a chorister at New College, Oxford, later studying with Herbert Howells and Richard Popplewell at the Royal College of Music, and is best known for his work as a choral conductor. He has conducted Bach Choirs in Chester and Leicester, and in 1992 took over the conductorship of the Birmingham Bach Choir. He is also founder and conductor of the Finzi Singers, a professional chamber choir of eighteen singers, which has achieved an international reputation principally through its many recordings for the Chandos label. Paul is Professor of Choral Conducting at the Royal College of Music (RCM) and conductor of the chamber choirs of the Birmingham Conservatoire and the RCM.
Paul has written a complete repertoire guide for the choral music of James MacMillan and he is writing a complete Repertoir Guide to Britten's Choral Works for the Britten-Pears Foundation, in preparation for the centenary of Benjamin Britten's birth 2013
