John O'Neill
John O'Neill, author of Schott's Jazz Method series is an established performing musician and instrumental teacher, specialising in the jazz field.
John has been a professional freelance saxophonist (soprano, alto, tenor and baritone), clarinetist and flautist since 1979 and has composed music for dance, theatre and film. He is an enthusiastic teacher, working both privately and in schools, and has served as an advisory consultant on jazz in relation to the GCSE curriculum. John was formerly director of the Enfeild Schools Jazz Orchestra and has taught on the jazz course at Trinity College, London. He has contributed articles to The Sunday Times and Jazz Journal International and has broadcast on BBC radio,
John's capacity as a workshop presenter is two-fold: as a saxophonist, with specialist knowledge of the problems of doubling clarient and flute, and as a teacher of jazz improvisation for any instrument.
