Shirley Court is nationally renowned for her ability to motivate and inspire young singers of all ages and capabilities.

Shirley is known throughout the UK for her ability to motivate and inspire young singers. In 2006 she was awarded an Honorary DMus from the University of Leicester for her work as a conductor of youth choirs and for promoting music in schools. She regularly directs massed choirs of primary schools and has conducted the Massed Choir of 600 voices as part of Music for Youth's School Prom in the Royal Albert Hall on 3 occasions.

In her role as the conductor of the CBSO Youth Chorus, from 1995 to 2009, Shirley worked alongside world-famous conductors preparing the choir for many prestigious events. Currently a vocal animateur for West Cheshire and Chester Music Service and the Director of the Cheshire Youth Choir, she also acts a consultant on national singing initiatives and runs inset courses for teacher as well as tutoring on the PG certificate in Singing in the Curriculum at the University of Chester.

Shirley is co-author of the fantastically-received Singing Sherlock books for Key Stages 1 and 2.

was awarded with an Honorary Degree of DMus from the University of Leicester in September 2006 for her work as a conductor of Youth Choirs and Music Schools. Whilst working in Leicestershire as Vocal and Choral Specialist her award winning girl’s choir, The Chanterelles, won the Llangollen International Eisteddfod Youth Choir section and were runners up in the Sainsbury’s Choir of the Year Competition 2000.
