Description
With the prelude to the Mastersingers we now publish the second of three Wagner transcriptions already made legendary by Gould's 1973 recording. Gould brought Wagner's 'brilliant counterpoint' to life with the help of recording technology, by superimposing a second, supplementary part over an initial recording. For live performances it is therefore preferable to have two pianists playing the piece on two pianos, rather than the piano solo version which is made possible with some cuts.
