Description
These two unpublished pieces for flute and piano were written shortly after Paul Dessau's emigration to France and were not rediscovered until 1992, when Dessau's unpublished works were looked through. The "Petite Arie" (Dessau's original title: "Petite Arie pour Fl. & Piano") was included in Dessau's suite for alto saxophone and piano as the second movement and premiered as such in Berlin in 1989. There is no proof that the two pieces have ever premiered in the instrumentation of this edition.
These works for intermediate players - which can be performed individually or together - are short performance pieces and an interesting addition to the contemporary flute and piano repertoire.
