Description
In Silvestrov’s music, the string orchestra plays an important role. An extremely detailed and complex style is typical of his late, mainly vocally melodic works. Every seemingly unimportant detail, every single acoustic change shall be ‘pronounced’ with the utmost care like an important solo. The individual string parts are not virtuosic but Silvestrov’s musical text demands total ‘dedication’ from the performers. His Hymne – 2001 is a welcome addition into the new millennium, Abschiedsserenade a funeral music for Silvestrov’s dead friend and fellow composer Ivan Karabits.
