As they saying goes, opposites attract. The Swedish-Indian group Mynta complement each other in a fascinating way. At an instant, Scandinavian melancholy can be catapulted to India by means of either complicated Tabla riffs or vocal melisma. European instruments such as the soprano saxophone or the acoustic guitar quickly acclimatize to the new Asian environment. Discreet bass figures and hovering keyboard sounds lay the foundation for this musical synthesis of folklores. A fusion between the orient and occident has taken place. The quintet has performed at numerous international jazz festivals such Montreux, Singapore, Havana, Nicaragua and Stockholm.
