Profile

Angelika Luz was educated at the Musikhochschule in Stuttgart (voice and piano) and has since been engaged for numerous European stages. Her roles range from Monteverdi’s Poppea by way of Mozart’s Queen of the Night to contemporary musical theater (e.g., in the première of Fredrik Zeller’s "Irma Vep" at the Schwetzinger Festspiele in 2003 and that of Brian Ferneyhough’s "shadowtime" at the Munich Biennale in 2004). Numerous radio and CD recordings, as well as appearances at the Festival Agora in Paris, at the Berliner Festwochen, at Éclat in Stuttgart, at the Ludwigsburger Festspiele, and at Warsaw Autumn, document the singer’s turn to contemporary music, in which, in addition to solo appearances, she is associated above all with the Neue Vocalsolisten in chamber music and experimental work. At the Musikhochschule in Stuttgart she has been teaching modern vocal music since 1998, and together with ensemble v.act, a group she founded, she frequently presents productions that combine music, theater, and multimedia.
