Stefan Asbury studied conducting at Oxford University under Oliver Knussen, and at the Royal College of Music. In 1990 received the Leonard Bernstein award in Boston, USA. Holds the Chair of Conducting at the Tanglewood Music Center. Works closely with the Basel Sinfonietta, the Ensemble Contrechamps and the Tapiola Sinfonietta, where he has been artist in association since 2007.
