Written for the Berlin Radio Choir Christian Jost’s choral opera Angst deals with fear on various levels: Where does it come from? What are the reasons for it? What are the 21st century fears? The choir embodies the ’singing mind game’: psychodynamics. Individual thoughts emerge from the whole and fade back into it. Specially made films will be shown, extending the sphere of Angst to the visual realm. Simon Halsey, director of the Radio Choir, said: 'I am always looking for composers who know how to write intuitively for voices and especially for choir. With Christian Jost, we have found the perfect partner. Right from the beginning, our collaboration was open to reciprocal suggestions, and the work resulting from this is, to all of us, a wonderful challenge: very demanding – both technically and musically – but each second is a rewarding and worthwhile task that we are pleased to perform!' Angst will be premiered at the UltraSchall Festival and recorded on the CD label COVIELLO CLASSICS.
