Description
600 Impulse, commissioned by the city of Mainz on the occasion of the 600th birthday of Johannes Gutenberg, consists of 600 chords which are played in a very fast, virtuoso tempo. Thus, the impression is given that a film is shown at high speed or that 600 years are brought to the audience’s experience in 6 minutes.
The piece starts with a fanfare on the letters Gutenberg (G-Ut-E-N-B-E-R-G). The audience then joins the action, starting an interaction with the ensemble which reacts on the impulses (clapping) from the audience, playing and then stopping again. After this short play the tremendously fast 600 impulses start again.
