Description

This volume contains papers submitted for the Basle symposium on “Music theatre today”. As well as introductory presentations that cover a number of themes there are papers which focus on individual aspects of the operatic genre: libretto, music or set design. Contemporary problems in music theatre today are examined against the background of artistic theories and in the light of the creative achievement of individual artists or works. Academic papers on music or the theatre and contributions looking at the world of film and dance are presented alongside observations drawn from practical experience.
