Peter Rundel

Peter Rundel, born in Friedrichshafen in 1958, studied violin with Igor Ozim and Ramy Shevelor, composition with Jack Brimberg, and conducting with Michael Gielen and Peter Eötvös. From 1984 to 1996 he was a violinist with the Ensemble Modern. Since his conducting debut in 1987 he has evolved into one of the most sought-after conductors of his generation, with a focus on contemporary music. He has collaborated for years with the Ensemble Modern, the ensemble recherche, and the Klangforum Wien, among others. Peter Rundel has been guest conductor of many orchestras and ensembles, directed the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra of Flanders, the Ensemble Oriol, the Kammerakademie Potsdam, and the Wiener Taschenoper. He has already conducted productions of musical theater at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, the Bayerische Staatsoper, the Wiener Festwochen, the Bregenzer Festspiele, and the Wiener Volksoper, working with stage directors such as Peter Konwitschny, Philippe Arlaud, and Joachim Schlömer.
