Tatjana Komarova

Tatjana Komarova was born in Brest (Byelorussia) on 11 September 1968. She grew up in Moscow, taking early music lessons from her parents who are both musicians, her father (Vladimir Komarov) being also a composer. In 1987, after her piano studies, Tatjana Komarova began to study composition at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow with Professor Nikolai Sidelnikov who laid the foundation for her compositional work and had a significant influence on her artistic development. The works by Tatjana Komarova have already seen a considerable number of performances, both in her native country and in numerous European countries.
Her Sonata for piano (1990), for example, was premiered in New York in 1992 and
in 1995 alone
performed among others in Frankfurt, Leipzig (Gewandhaus), Amsterdam, Prague and Athens. Commissioned by the city of Mönchengladbach, the work Triptychon for violoncello and piano (created in 1993 and premiered in December of the same year by Boris Pergamenchikov and Lars Vogt) has since been performed a.o. in Stuttgart, at the Cologne Philharmonie, in Paris (Châtelet), London (BBC live broadcast) and in a chamber concert of the Los Angeles Philharmonic Association. Other commissioned works of recent years are an octet for the "Finale" Festival of the Cologne Philharmonie, a work for 12 violoncellos for the Violoncello Festival in Beauvais/ France premiered in May 1994 as well as the opera Das Jahrmarktsfest zu Plunderweilern (after Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, arranged by Peter Hacks and jointly created with four other young composers) for the Rheinsberg Castle Chamber Opera, Variations with Theme for string orchestra (1997) for the Brunswig Rostrum of Chamber Music, Sonnenuntergänge auf B 612 for nine instruments, commissioned by Paul Sacher (1998), or the concerto for piano and orchestra, commissioned by the Musikkollegium Winterthur (2000/01).
Tatjana Komarova's compositions have been broadcast many times on the radio (a.o. BBC, WDR, NDR, SDR, Radio France) and on television (ZDF and WDR), some have already been recorded on CD. Her OEuvre includes compositions for piano, lieder, choral and orchestral works and in particular chamber music in every possible instrumentation.
Tatjana Komarova is currently composing a piece for three celli and orchestra, a commission be the Tonhalle Duesseldorf and Heinrich Schiff.
