Aderbal Duarte de Bahia, son of a family of musicians, a conductor and composer by education, a student of Ernest Widmer and Walter Smetak. He began his musical training as a child, listening to the music of Pixinguinha, Dilermando Reis, Luiz Gonzaga and others
as well as Caymmi, Joao Gilberto, Baden Powell and Tom Jobim. A self-taught guitarist, he emerged as a concert soloist and as a creator of classic bossa nova arrangements when recordings of these were published. His releases address methods of contemporary Múscia Popular Brasileira. Duarte is an expert of the works of Joao Gilberto and first arranger of the works of this bossa nova creator.
