Description:

Parsifal, the last musico-dramatic work of Wagner, was premiered in Bayreuth on 26 July 1882 and, at first, were reserved for this performance venue according to the composer's will. Apart from only a few exceptions, it was not until 30 years later (i.e. after the expiration of the term of protection) that other opera-houses too were allowed to perform the 'sacred festival drama'.
The new edition of the Eulenburg Study Score follows the Wagner Complete Edition which is based on the autograph score. All other editions published up to now only used as a source the first edition of 1883, unauthorized by Wagner, which differs from the autograph in important details. The original musical text is now available in a handy format - and ideally suited for studying.
