Description
The Fantaisie fuguée sur Regina caeli by the French organist and composer Daniel Roth (*1942) processes the entire musical text of the Regina caeli, the antiphon in the sixth tone in honour of the Virgin Mary, sung at service during the Compline on Holy Saturday until Friday after Pentecost. As regards the organ sound, this piece was written in memory of the grand organ by E. A. Roethinger in Erstein and its first organist Victor Dusch. The people of this small Alsatian village south of Strasburg are rightly proud of their historic organ from 1914 in which French and German elements are combined in harmony. (Daniel Roth)
