Description
The selection of works presented on this CD constitute a world première realized based on seven autograph manuscripts found in the Bibliothèque Inguimbertine of Carpentras by Joseph Scherpereel who also wrote the essay in the booklet. The 'Livre d’Orgue de Carpentras' contains organ works by the 18th-century organist and composer Louis Archimbaud that are organized according to their liturgical function or church mode: Préludes, Elévations, Offertoires. Marie-Bernadette Dufourcet-Hakim, who is internationally renowned for her talent as an organist and erudition as a musicologist, worked enthusiastically to give new life to these manuscripts which must be 'interpreted' according to the customs and traditions of the period: harmonic additions indicated by occasional figured bass notation, notes inégales (unequal notes), ornamentation, suitable and varied registrations, and on an instrument chosen expressly for it.
