Description

The three Old Viennese Dance Tunes Liebesfreud, Liebesleid and Schön Rosmarin, originally composed for violin and piano, perfectly capture the atmosphere of Fritz Kreisler’s native city. The three miniatures evoke the charm of Viennese coffee houses and provide a reminiscence of the Stehgeiger [café violinists] who provided entertainment in these establishments. Kreisler himself was fond of playing these pieces as an encore and this practice has become no less popular in our time.
