Description:

Un lungo bacio (A long kiss) was commissioned by the Mozartgemeinde Hildesheim and premiered at the 49th German Mozart Festival on 19 September 2003. This work is a tribute to Mozart‘s librettist, Lorenzo da Ponte, whose texts of three different arias from Le nozze di Figaro, Don Giovanni and Cosi fan tutte have been compiled by Oliver Buslau as a
collage which amalgamates the emotions of three female characters into a monologue. Christian Jost‘s suggestive setting thus becomes a great dramatic vocal scene which follows up Mozart‘s subtle art of psychologization. Jost sounds out the possibilities of expression of the solo
voices up to their extreme registers, embedding them in a delicate and transparent orchestral accompaniment.
