Description:

For the Frankfurt-Feste 1991, Hans Werner Henze arranged three church sonatas by Mozart for small orchestra. The sonatas in question are the sonatas in C major KV 336c, in Eb major KV 67 and in C major KV 328 which were written during the time when Mozart was court and cathedral
organist in Salzburg. Henze made significant changes to the instrumentation, assigning harp and guitar to large parts of the original solo part. The preference for low instruments gives the work a withdrawn, introverted nature; it is the intimate sonority that makes Henze‘s Mozart arrangement a captivating work.
