Oscar Wilde’s fairy tale of ’The Selfish Giant’ is a classic work of world literature. Once the giant has banned the children from playing in his garden, winter sets in with snow, frost, the North wind and hailstones. Winter is followed by spring, but not in the giant’s garden. Having realised in his winter solitude how selfishly he has behaved, the giant welcomes the children back into his garden.
