Description:

Gerhard Stäbler expresses his sense of social responsibility and political alertness in a musical language of multiple facts and a wealth of meanings. His goal is an universal semantics embracing all levels of composition.
Stäbler treats music with utmost precision and control, sensing the echoes of world history in its material. We can observe this in his highly original and broadly conceived spectrum of materials, subject-matter and techniques, forming a code which in turn causes his music to tell us about the world. The prerequisite is emotional engagement; the upshot, a rationally grounded standpoint. Seriousness and commitment often combine with playfulness and humour.
Stäbler invariably prefers gradual and concentrated movement based more on parataxis - on montages of various blocks and elements in succession or juxtaposition - than on hypotaxis - the principle of subordination and classical organic evolution.
