Commissioned for the BBC Proms Chamber Concerts in 2000, "Vaporize" is alive with rhythmic energy and sharp syncopations. Dedicated to John McCabe after Duddell was impressed with the opening chorale of McCabe's 'Cloudcatcher Fells', the eight minute work owes its freshness and vitality to Duddell's clarity of part writing, sparing use of the pedal and the preference for a non-legato touch.
