Nino Rota - Centenary Events

On the 3rd of December 2011 Nino Rota would have celebrated his 100th birthday and over the coming weeks there will be many special concerts to remember the world famous Italian composer.

Highlights of this international focus on Rota's music include the French accordionist Richard Galliano and La Strada Quintet performance of a selection of Rota’s most famous film scores such as "La Dolce Vita" and "The Godfather" at London’s Royal Festival Hall on 17th November.

Also on the 17th November the "Orchestra della Fondazione Teatro Lirico, Giuseppe Verdi" will be performing Cello Concerto No. 1 in Pordenone, Italy and The 21st Century Symphony Orchestra conducted by Ludwig Wicki perform Rota's music from Visconti’s classic film "Il Gattopardo" in Luzern on 3rd December. Finally a new production by "Bee's Children's Theatre" of the composer's children's opera "Aladdin and the Magic Lamp" will open in Zurich on the 16th December for Christmas.
