Nino Rota: Charming clarinet tones

Clarinet fans pay attention: Schott Music presents the first publication of Nino Rota´s Allegro danzante for clarinet and piano! Besides this edition from Schott, only the original manuscripts of this piece exist at the Rota Archives in Venice.
In this three-part album leaf from 1977, Rota combines imagination with the artfully creative lightness of his personal style that also characterizes his music for “Der Pate” and “La dolce vita”.
The elated, staccato-driven question-answer game of the first section is interrupted by a soft, flowing, canon-like middle section, in which the clarinet and piano alternate with the melody, before the piano returns with the opening theme through a short connecting passage.
The piece stands at a moderate level of difficulty. Due to the song-like motifs, the sequence-like progression and the interconnection between the two voices, this is a beautiful piece for expressive performances. A worthwhile discovery for everyone that wants to put their skills into an impressive piece.
