Kamran Ince at Present Music

Throughout his compositional career Kamran Ince has enjoyed ongoing collaborative relationships with ensembles and organizations around the globe, and none more so than the Milwaukee-based new music staple Present Music and their director Kevin Stalheim. The relationship continues this summer as Present Music premiere a new work by Ince that highlights the ensemble’s water-themed concert on August 27 in Milwaukee’s Uihlein Hall. The event is open to the public and will engage Milwaukee’s artistic, scientific, technological, business and ecological partners in an event that will inspire the community to celebrate and promote Milwaukee's world-leading water resources. The new work is commissioned by John Shannon and Jan Serr for the 30th Anniversary of Present Music.

Also in August, Ince takes part in a composer’s forum at the Turkish music festival Klasik Keyifler in Cappadocia, Turkey from August 8 through 16. Young composers will have the chance to work closely with Ince and other leading composers and musicians as they refine their own compositions and delve into the world of Turkish classical and folk music. Performances of Ince’s works by the artists in residence are also in store at Cappadocia, including his Lines for clarinet and piano on August 9, Partita in E for violin and percussion on August 14, Far Variations for piano quartet and Curve for string quartet on August 16.
