Aldeburgh 2011

The 2011 Aldeburgh Festival opens this evening in the beautiful setting of the east coast of England for over two weeks of contemporary and classical music.  Highlights of this year’s festival include the world premiere of Peter Eötvös’ SCHILLER performed by the London Sinfonietta and vocal group EXAUDI conducted by the Eötvös on 25th June and a full day devoted to the music of György Ligeti on Sunday 12th June.

Jörg Widmann will also make an appearance as a soloist in a programme which will feature the composer’s Fantasie for solo clarinet.
