Never Failed Me Yet

A week-long immersion in the sonic world of composer Gavin Bryars begins this evening on the New York classical music station WQXR 105.9 FM.  The festival features introductions by Bryars himself to over 40 of his seminal works, exclusive private and unreleased live recordings, archival audio, video interviews and tributes by some of his many colleagues and admirers.

The festival, hosted by Alex Ambrose,  begins on Thursday, 14 April 8.50pm ET, with a live audio Webcast from New York City's Guggenheim Museum of Bryars' 1969 masterpiece The Sinking of the Titanic performed by the Wordless Music Orchestra.  The performance is part of the larger T.1912, a multimedia installation by French artist Dominique Gonzalez-Foerster designed specifically for the Guggenheim's iconic rotunda.  The date also is also significanct in that it is 99 years to the day that the Titanic sank in the Atlantic ocean.

The Webcast lasts approximately one hour and for those not in the USA it will be archived for on-demand streaming on the WQXR webite the following day.
