Tobias Picker’s Fantastic Mr Fox – English Touring Opera Spring Tour 2011
A new production of Tobias Picker’s opera ‘Fantastic Mr. Fox’ directed by Tim Yealland will receive its London Premiere on 10 March at Hackney Empire.
The two-act opera is based on Roald Dahl’s beloved children’s story:
For years, Mr Fox has defied three blundering farmers – Boggis, Bunce and Bean – by pilfering food for his family from under their noses. Now they have a plan to beat him, involving a hungry digger called Agnes. Can Mr Fox be “outfoxed”?

English Touring Opera are performing the work in a new reduced orchestration and each performance will be accompanied by local groups of schoolchildren playing a chorus of trees and fox cubs. The UK tour continues until 25th of May calling at Cambridge, Exeter, Crawley, Cheltenham, Snape, Norwich, Wolverhampton, Buxton, Turo and Belfast.
