Dutilleux at 95

Henri Dutilleux will celebrate his 95th birthday at the end of this month and to mark this milestone the Institute of Musical Research in association with Kingston University and Cardiff University will be holding a study day at Senate House, University of London on 28 January 2011 from 10am until 5.30pm.

The study day will include discussions on the esteemed composer’s position in the contemporary music scene through examinations of his music and aesthetics including reference to his most recent works. Julian Anderson will give a keynote lecture titled ‘Dutilleux and Timbre as Metaphor for Form’ and Schott composer Kenneth Hesketh will also be presenting research in his paper 'The Backbone of the Night': Mechanisms of evolution in Ainsi la nuit.
