Alexander Goehr - ultraschall 2011
British composer Alexander Goehr will have a day dedicated to his music at this year's Ultraschall Festival in Berlin. The festival, which has taken place annually since 1999, will present two portrait concerts on the evening of Wednesday 26th January which will feature a cross section of the composer’s chamber music. The concerts are held in cooperation with the music library of the Akademie der Künste who now house all Goehr’s manuscripts and will also include a panel discussion hosted by Deutschlandradio Kulture and rbb Kulturradio.
Highlights include a rare performance of Goehr’s setting of eight poems by Erich Fried, Warngedichte, op. 22 given by mezzo soprano Monica Brett-Crowther and pianist Stefan Litwin along with Since Brass, nor Stone for string quartet and percussion, op. 80 which won the British Composer Awards chamber category in 2009.
