Music of Tobias Picker Performed by Mimesis Ensemble
The Mimesis Ensemble features the music of Tobias Picker in their program at the Bechstein Concert Hall on Tuesday, December 7. Works performed include Picker’s The Blue Hula, Keys to the City, and Four Etudes for Ursula, all prized works of Picker's chamber music oeuvre. Picker’s Four Etudes for Ursula and The Blue Hula (in its solo piano version) are both included in the recent Collected Works for Solo Piano publication, published by Schott-Helicon Music in the prestigious Edition Schott series. In 2008, Wergo released Tobias Picker-Keys to the City, a comprehensive recording that traces an evolution in Tobias Picker’s writing for piano from the virtuosic challenges of his Four Etudes for Ursula and the jazzy, urbane landscape of Keys to the City (in its two-piano version performed by the composer and Oppens) to the lyrical grace of Old and Lost Rivers, ... when soft voices die ..., and The Blue Hula.
