Shchedrin in Fokus at the Gergiev Festival Mikkeli 2010
Works by Russian composer Rodion Shchedrin form the core of the 2010 Gergiev Festival in Finnish town of Mikkeli. Under the baton of Valery Gergiev, the Marrinsky Theatre Orchestra from St. Petersburg will present his Two Tangos by Albéniz, the Trumpet Concerto (with Timur Martynov) and the Symphonic Diptych among others. Internationally renowned pianist Denis Matsuev will be the soloist in a performance of the 5th Piano Concerto.
From 4 to 8 July, seven concerts are presented by the festival.
